About
Alsaleh is a PhD holder from Virginia Tech College of Architecture and Urban Studies, with experience in both Saudi Arabia and the United States. He is currently the Director of Research and Studies at the Quality of Life Program Center in Saudi Arabia; leading and supervising multiple governmental projects concerned with improving livability and people’s lifestyle. He participated in multiple architectural conferences such as LivableCitiesX, Velux, High-level political forum for SDG by (UN), Human Behavior, Performance, and Built Environment by Illinois Institute of Technology and Traditional Architecture Gathering by Diriyah Gate Development Authority and World Urban Forum 12.
His PhD research focuses on developing a machine learning tool that allows architects to utilize lines with pure mathematical equations into an early stage of the design process. During his PhD studies, he received an honorable mention award for participating at Solar Decathlon 2020 with Virginia Tech Team.
Previously, Alsaleh was an assistant professor at Dar Al-Hekma School of Design and Architecture, he served as Program Director of Bachelors of Architecture program; as well as leading the architectural house of expertise (consultancy) and teaching several courses such as Capstone Project and Livable Cities.
He earned his Masters of Architecture from Virginia Tech. In his thesis, he explored the role of poetic and pragmatic aspects of daylight in educational buildings; looking at achieving a daylit and energy efficient (climate responsive) school building. He worked as project coordinator/teaching assistant for the Environmental Building Systems class and Third year Architecture Design Studio. After graduation he worked for at SFCS Inc; a firm that specialized in senior living design.
His Bachelors of Architecture was from King Abdul-Aziz University in Saudi Arabia and he worked professionally as an architect on many housing and educational projects at Axis Design Consulting and AlMotawer Engineering Group.
