Dr. Alsaleh Sugati is an architect, researcher, and strategic thinker whose work bridges design innovation, data analytics, and human experience. He currently serves as the Director of Studies & Research at the Quality of Life Program Center, leading national initiatives that reimagine Saudi cities through evidence-based design, cultural expression, and livability-driven policies.
As an Ambassador for the King Salman Charter for Architecture & Urbanism, he advocates for human-centric design rooted in Saudi identity and forward-looking urbanism. Internationally, he contributes to global policy and standards as a member of ISO/TC 314 on Ageing Societies, shaping frameworks for inclusive and age-friendly environments worldwide.
Dr. Sugati also serves as an Advisory Board Member for the College of Architecture and Digital Design (CAAD) at Dar Al Uloom University, helping align academic vision with emerging trends in technology, sustainability, and urban innovation.
A graduate of Virginia Tech’s College of Architecture and Urban Studies, he earned both his Master’s and PhD there, where his doctoral research explored how machine learning can transform early design processes by translating mathematical logic into spatial creativity. During his studies, he received an Honorable Mention at the Solar Decathlon 2020 competition with the Virginia Tech Team.
To strengthen his strategic and leadership edge, Dr. Sugati completed “Analytics for Strategic Growth” at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on data-driven decision-making and innovation management at an executive level.
Earlier in his career, he was Assistant Professor and Program Director of the Bachelor of Architecture program at Dar Al-Hekma University, where he also led the school’s architectural consultancy and taught courses on capstone design and livable cities. His professional journey began after earning his Bachelor of Architecture from King Abdulaziz University, later practicing at Axis Design Consulting and AlMotawer Engineering Group, and joining SFCS Inc. in the U.S., a firm specializing in senior-living design.
